Wagga Senior Womens Team - Mitchell Cup PDF Print E-mail
Tue 26 Feb 2008

The Wagga Wagga Senior Women’s Invitational team traveled to Bathurst on the weekend to compete in the Mitchell Cup tournament.

The main objective of participating in the tournament was to give the team a chance to play together and to build team-work for their upcoming clash with Albury in the annual Wagga / Albury Football challenge.

The team had 5 matches and came home with  2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses and finished 3rd on the table which is a great effort considering they were playing against Super League teams and a Premier League team and this tournament was their first games together.

Dribbling the Ball

Beginners should start by using the inside of the foot to keep the ball more central to the body (easier to protect!) however, once you are comfortable you should try using other parts of your foot. Avoid keeping the ball right under your feet, aim to Keep the ball at a distance where you can easily put your foot on the ball without stretching, which will allow you to play the ball. Changes in pace or direction will help you to beat an opponent. Change pace to go past a player and direction to unbalance them. In Football it is a good tool to have if you can play with both feet, so practice with both!!! Scan the field for passing or shooting opportunities by looking around and in front of you whilst dribbling.
